Our Manchester Free Tours are for everyone but you might have some questions about how they work. Here we try to answer them

Why do you offer Free Tours?

We believe that is the best way to know a city. It’s not a totally free tour (we still have bills to pay) but it is based in a pay-what-you-like model (similar than the Sandemans Free Tour or New Europe free tours. We believe that everyone should enjoy this amazing city and learn and discover during their visit in Manchester, regardless of their budget.

We also strongly believe that you should not have to pay for a tour in advance, without having experienced it first. We think that you should decide how much you think the tour was worth when the tour is finished. So we have to work extra hard for your appreciation.

So I have to make a reservation or can I just show up?

Here is what we do different. Reservations are required for guaranteed spot in the tour. We hate that free tours where you have to struggle to listen between +50 people. Reservations help us determine the number of guides we need to ensure that our groups remain manageable and enjoyable. We care about your experience, we care about you been able to know and meet the guide so we can help you completely to get the best of Manchester and know the best things to do in Manchester. Walk-up guests for these tours will be permitted if space is available. However, we strongly suggest contacting us before walking up to a tour.

Why should I submit my phone number when making a reservation?

This is optional. You will receive your reservation confirmation and a reminder on the day before your tour via email. We do recommend, however, that you hand in a phone number by which you can be reached on the day of the tour. This way, your tour guide can get in touch with you if there are any short notice changes to the tour.

We are a group of 6 or more, can we still reserve?

From experience we know that larger groups have the tendency to bail on us last minute or to involuntarily interrupt the tour. We want all our tour guests to enjoy the tour, so please be aware of that when you can with your party. We encourage to big groups to book a private tour but you are still welcome to any tour. So please don’t bail on us!

What happens if we arrive late?

Please, please, please try to be on time. We recommend arriving at the starting location 10 minutes before the tour starts.
We also recommend checking with your concierge or online how much time you need to make it to the tour on time and allow some extra buffer time.
You don’t want to be the person arriving late and having to call and interrupt the guide in the middle of a tour. Your email reminder that you receive the day before the tour should list the tour guide’s name and phone number.  It’s not our rule, it’s your rule, people that arrives 10 minutes early and are waiting in the cold don’t want to wait another extra time for the tour to start because someone has decided to not to check distances before coming to the tour.
So we will start on time. We will stay on the beginning spot for 5 minutes and then move to Piccadilly Gardens for some extra 10 minutes.

I have changed my mind and cannot come to the tour. Do I have to let you know?

Yes! Our number of spots are limited and we often have to send away interested guests, because there is no more space. By letting us know in time that you cannot make it, we can open up the extra spot to other interested guests. We do work on the honor system, so please understand that if you make a reservation and don’t show up or bail on us last minute, that this might affect your future reservations. If you confirm your spot we will be more aware to wait for you.

Do the tours ever get cancelled for bad weather?

This is Manchester and the show must go on! Our tours go out rain or shine. Dress appropriately for the conditions. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended and an umbrella is always handy. Wear extra layers of clothes and be prepare.

Do the tours end where they start?

No. Each tour ends at a different location.
